Speaker Guidelines
As a potential speaker of the Smart Phone
Summit we invite you to agree to these high standards of
excellence throughout your participation in the Smart Phone
Summit. Thank you!
1. Qualifications:
The potential speaker's qualifications must reflect
a high level of experience, knowledge or education related
to the proposed presentation.
2. The Presentation: The proposed presentation should
depict the most important subject matter, topics and issues
facing the handheld technology industry and community.
3. Experience:
The potential speaker must hold a senior level position
(Chairman, CEO, President, COO, CFO, CTO, Vice President,
Chief Information Officer, et al), or have sufficient work
experience in the industry.
4. Confirmation: All confirmed speakers will be contacted
via e-mail or telephone confirming them as a speaker.
5. Presentation Essay: Confirmed speakers, moderators,
and panelists of the Smart Phone Summit conference may be
asked to prepare and draft a white-paper outline of the
confirmed presentation by the deadline of 45 days prior
to show start date, and prepared in digital text (.txt)
format. The white-paper outline may be used to further qualify
the presentation's relevance to the Summit conference program.
Further submission guidelines will be sent to all speakers
by e-mail.
6. Event CD: Your presentation may be included in
an event CD which be provided to all conference attendees
and/or will be offered on the Smart Phone Summit website
after the event.
7. Speaker Representatives: A representative of a speaker
working in the role of Public Relations (PR), marketing,
or assistance must have a commitment from the potential
speaker. This commitment must be in the form of availability
and ability to deliver the presentation proposed during
the Smart Phone Summit conference as well as commitment
to agree to all the rules and regulations contained within.
8. Arrival: During the conference, all confirmed speakers
agree to arrive one (1) hour prior to their designated presentation
timeslot on the scheduled day during the conference.
9. Preparation: All confirmed speakers agree to come
prepared for their presentation and to begin their presentation
exactly at the scheduled time.
10. Marketing Materials: By confirming a speaking
position in the Smartphone Summit speakers agree to Smartphone
Summit's use of speaker's name and company name in promotional
materials including print mailer, websites, and e-newsletters
as well as use of any publicly known/released product names/models
offered by speaking company. Speakers may include additional
product and service information/materials in separate PowerPoint
presentation versions that are to be distributed by Smartphone
Summit to attendees after the show has concluded.
11. Sales Demos During Presentations: The Smart Phone
Summit strongly discourages speakers from exploiting their
presentation time to make commercial sales presentations,
sales oriented product or service demonstrations, or brand-awareness
campaigns. Please allow the last few minutes of your presentation,
before Question and Answer (Q&A), to introduce conference
attendees to your company and your products and services.
Failure to comply with this requirement may result in you
and your company's disqualification from being considered
for speaking opportunities during the Smart Phone Summit
conference in the future. If you wish to disseminate marketing
materials to attendees please prepare an expanded version
of your electronic presentation materials and submit it
directly to Smartphone Summit for distribution to attendees
following the show (see #10 above).
12. Speaking in a Public Forum: Speakers acknowledge that they will be speaking in a public forum in front of a public audience and that they may be photographed and that their presentations and representations may be recorded via audio and/or video.
14. Speaker Replacements: The Smart Phone Summit
does not allow speaker replacements except under emergency
conditions. All speaker replacements are subject to approval
by the Smart Phone Summit prior to the commencement of the
conference. Failure to comply with this requirement may
result in you and your company's disqualification from being
considered for speaking opportunities during the Smart Phone
Summit conference in the future. The Smart Phone Summit
reserves the right to allow other speakers or companies
to "fill in" in the event that speaker replacements
do not meet the Smart Phone Summit Conference Speaker Requirements
and Guidelines.
15. Honorarium:
The Smart Phone Summit does not provide for honorarium
or travel repayments to speakers, however we do our best
to pass along all travel and accomodation discounts available
to us at each event, and at most event provide compensation in return for the above by means of a complimentary conference pass in the speaker's name.
These terms and guidelines may be modified
by Smartphone Summit without notice.
